When He Speaks (Part 4)

I think that to say that there are many ways that He speaks is an understatement. As noted earlier He has created each of us to be an individual and although there are similar ways of hearing Him we all have to find and live in the reality in which He created us. This is the beautiful part of being the body of Christ. On one hand you may think that you may think that you are isolated and that you cannot hear His voice. That is just a lie. On the other hand you may be straining to hear Him and beginning to wonder where in this desert is He? Well, hold on, the Word is on its way. He will speak to you.

I think that the point I wish to make here in this last blog on the subject is this; the body of Christ needs to realize the significance of hearing His voice and do what He says! Satan’s number one tactic in this is to constantly downplay the importance of the precious Word we carry and often times will intimidate us by giving us the impression that we are going to look like a fool in front of everyone or that the treasure we carry will cause undo hardship on the person it is intended for. A couple years ago I wrote a blog titled, Will you have water? or Wine? I would like to reiterate the words of Mary that are highlighted in that blog and found in John Chapter 2. Mary has already requested that Jesus step in and help with the lack of wine. He has seemingly refused. Mary turns to the servants and speaks words that we really do not want to miss 2000 years later. She says to the servants, “Do whatever He says.” and then apparently leaves the conversation. It is all recorded there in John Chapter 2…Jesus makes the best wine! I am convinced that it is the same today, but that so many times the word of the Lord for someone is left unspoken because we do not take seriously the words Mary spoke and we do not do what He says.

I am right now traveling in a place I have never been before. Yesterday was one of those times when I almost passed up something wonderful. I closed my eyes for a moment in the middle of the afternoon and I had a very short vision. I was standing on a boat dock at a body of water. That was all I saw. Shortly I felt the need to go find a boat dock and spend some time near the water. This persisted until I went and got in my vehicle and went to try to find a public boat dock. About halfway into this journey I saw the signs for a trailhead and for a moment I was distracted. I pulled into the trailhead parking thinking I would just swap the activity and go hiking instead of looking for the boat dock. I knew it wasn’t right so I returned to the road and kept looking for a boat dock. A few miles further was a sign advertising a public boat ramp. I turned. After winding around for a while I finally arrived. There were two cars in the parking lot. One car had a white Bible laying on the hood the other was parked near a gentleman who was out with his dog. My attention went to the guy with his dog. We chatted for sometime but nothing seemed to open up. I bid him a good evening and headed for the dock. If nothing else I could at least make the vision become reality. After standing on the dock for a few minutes I headed back to the truck. I saw three people sitting under the trees talking. I walked back to my vehicle got in a started to drive away. It was then I heard Him whisper, “Go back. You need to speak to those people.” As I drove up to the top of the hill where there was a place to turn around I asked the Lord what I needed to speak the them about. He was very vague in His reply, “They just need someone to pray with them and they need to hear a word from Me.” He said. As I turned and headed back down towards the boat dock Satan’s angels started to whisper in my ear. “You’re going to look really weird if you really do this.” I knew that line pretty well and smiled. The demons didn’t give up. It was getting toward evening and I am in a lifted truck with bigger tires. They whispered, “You’re going to scare these poor people who are just out by the lake for the evening.” That seemed legit so I prayed, “Lord, the last thing I want to do is scare someone.” He answered, “Just stay in the truck and roll down the window.” The truck rolled to a stop and I leaned out the window and said, “Hey, I was just driving out of here and God told me that someone here needed someone to pray with them so turned around and came back. Is there someone here who needs to pray?” Two of the people came over and the most amazing conversation ensued. I am always amazed by these things because usually I haven’t a clue about what to say and then all of a sudden there are words coming out of my mouth and I find once again the He, Jesus Christ, is indeed a river of living water.

We all have a place in the Kingdom of Heaven and it begins by responding to the words that were spoken by Mary, the mother of Jesus, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” John 2:5b NASB

  1. This was such a cool story, Ken! And a great reminder to listen to the whisper of the Holy Spirit. I’m so inspired by your obedience to listen to that voice over the voice of the enemy.
