What I Really Want

I have been taking stock of the things in my life that hold my attention. There are a number of them. It has been an amazing time and as I think back over the last 18 months I see many things coming about in my life that I have believed and asked God for for many years. I have been challenged though, by the question, What do I really want?

I’ve seen miracles. I’ve watched anxiety and fear leave people in a moment. I’ve seen people healed of physical conditions doctors could not even diagnose in a moment. I’ve watch the healing process in others that had physical symptoms that were coupled to other parts of their being so that as their mind and emotions were healed their body healed as well. I’ve seen miraculous financial provision. I have watched the powerful results of intercessory prayer as the armies of Heaven marched in response to the cries of God’s people. Do I want more of this? YES! More, more, more!

I have known the powerful presence of God. I have heard His voice as I lay on the floor completely powerless in myself to move, aware only of the sweetness and glory of the Father. I have been moved beyond myself to speak the truth and minister to the broken and the wounded. I have listened as the word of the Lord was spoken through my lips revealing hidden things to people who needed to know God knew about them and loved them. Do I want more of this? YES! YES! YES!

I have a few human interest as well. I love to build longbows. I love to go fishing. I thoroughly enjoy hunting. I like shooting rifles, shotguns, handguns, longbows, just about anything. I am fascinated and driven to hit the very center of the mark. I love airplanes and a month or so ago when I got to experience soaring in a glider I found it to be most stimulating. I am fascinated by aerodynamics, flight physiology, weather, the whole thing. Recently I have found painting to be one of the greatest joys in life. Do I want more? Oh, yes! Keep it coming!

What I want more than anything in this life is a greater revelation of Jesus Christ. The one thing that captivates me more than anything else is to know Him who calls me His friend. I’ve read the story. I’ve read it over and over again. How deep is His love for me, really? How wide is His grace, really? What timidity would disappear from my life if I had a vision of the fire in His eyes? What chains would fall off those around me if I knew the power of the grip of His hand? What demons would shriek in the presence of the Holy Spirit that comes in the wind His breath? What disease would be healed by the shadow cast in the light of His presence? Oh, that I could see His ways, not because they are miraculous and thrilling, but so that I may know Him. So I can know the person of Jesus Christ, He who calls me His friend.
